Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

The war between Autobots and Decepticons continues in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and only Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg can bring this live action movie to the big screen for the second time. After the success of the first movie, the idea for the sequel is basically to add more about everything the first one got. More big robots, action, comic relief, more sexual reference and most of all, more  explosions.

The plot continues 2 years after the events of the first movie, the Autobots led by Optimus Prime joined the military to combat the remaining Decepticons while Sam Witwicky is preparing for college. Everything mess up when Sam touches the fragment of the remaining All Spark thus making the Decepticons plan for a counter-attack as well.

There’s nothing special with the plot in my opinion, it is incoherent and confusing but of course audience wouldn’t care much. A lot of cast from the first film reprise their role but I surely miss both Jon Voight and Anthony Anderson’s characters. The acting is fair enough, Megan Fox is hot as ever but still can’t act to save her life. Again it wouldn’t matter since it was overshadowed by big robots and explosion. The comic relief brought laughs to the audience but I think they overdone it with some sexual reference jokes. You’ll easily spot them in the movie. Just a warning for those who will bring their small children.

Let us go to the crown jewel of the film which are the robots and its special effects. Again this is a ‘more‘ movie which means the robots were also doubled. Lots of new freaking robots and some familiar faces.  The effects and bringing the robots as if they really exist in the set really amazes me. Kudos to that! A little note though, some robot-to-robot combat are confusing and hard to figure out which that robot sides on. It looks like a free for all fight.

I also notice that the other minor Autobots were weak and spotlight just go primarily with Optimus Prime and Bumble Bee. How about the returning Autobots from the first film Ironhide and Ratchet? Instead Sam is with the Twins all along. They are NOT funny and annoying.

Overall, my review might sound negative BUT it really is entertaining and stunning brain dead action film. Good thing the visual effects, actions, explosions and the hotness of Megan Fox covered up the weak points of the film. The movie is good but it could have been better. Looking forward 3 years from now since Transformers 3 will be out on July 4, 2012.

P.S. I’ll watch it again in theaters this week!

very well said… the movie was breathtaking although some scenes should’ve been better… the fight scenes and the other effects were like wow! and the humor sure did cracked a lot of viewers… kudos to all who made the movie happened… you’ve got quite a good review.. ;)

i didnt like the movie , it was too unrealistic for me….

so after 20 minutes in the movie i left , went home and played Transfomers Revenge Of The Fallen – Razor1911 which was more to my liking. The story was more believable and the characters portrayed their roles well.

BTW as of this writing, Michael Jackson died at age 50, he was the original Transformer…..

I love movies but I seldom go to theaters to watch them… but I do have exceptions..and TRANSFORMERS is one of them..I’m here in Cebu, theaters charge you P160.00 in one play here(they don’t allow reviews).. so I want the movie that I watch to be worth it… and as expected this movie was worth my money..:)

As far as effects, story and acting? hmmm… I like it! Its amazing… Yes I can say that during the fighting scenes I can’t determine anymore who’s who..but I don’t care! I don’t know their names anyway..;))

Well.. its kinda freezing inside the theater but we endured it because we were enjoying every moment of it…;)
