Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li
Well I never saw this one coming out as an accurate released date in our local theaters so we decided to give it a go and postpone our “You Change My Life in a Moment” movie plan.
Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li stars Kristen Kreuk as the lead role along with Chris Klein, Neal McDonough, Robin Shou, Michael Clarke Duncan and the hotie Moon Bloodgood. I’m not so familiar with the story behind Capcom’s iconic video game but I’m familiar with some of the characters background. To be honest I’m more excited on the Street Fighter IV game for PC rather than the film.
After watching it, it can be sum up into one word and that is too much cliches but I guess Chun-Li’s story really was intended to be this way. Kristen Kreuk played her role fine except for some minor/major characters. The action sequence was not so good either. One thing I noticed was Robin Shou was Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat films, so ironic he went over to Street Fighter. I got nothing against it, I just found it a bit funny. I guess we will have another Street Fighter film in the future but I’m not that excited.
Overall, there’s nothing special on this film. Just a typical Friday theater night out. It won’t grow on you and probably you’ll forget it later. The only thing I like about this movie is seeing Kristen Kreuk in her first major role in the big screen, she is really pretty. I hope she will have more movies to come.
My Rating: 5/10
Recommendation: If you are a Kristen Kreuk fan, maybe worth it on theaters. If not, just watch other films on theater and wait for the DVD.
