HoN Beginners Strategy Tips for Noob PSR

HoN Beginners Strategy Tips for Noob PSR

Already got a Beta Key for Heroes of Newerth?

Well Congratulations, but it doens’t mean that if you are good in DotA then you will be immediately in HoN. It would take time to taste DEFEAT over and over before you master the game. But we all know the game isn’t just about you, you have to consider your allies as well.

So I gathered some HoN Beginners Strategy Tips for Noob and improve your PSR.
(NOTE: This strategy tips for Heroes of Newerth are mostly for HoN Beginners playing alone like me and already a DotA experienced player. This is not for very basic tips and advance players.)

Know thy Hero/Item First
– without having a clue who or what are the equivalent of heroes and items for HoN and DotA is a suicide. Check below to get to know them.

The ‘NOOB ONLY’ Room – watch out for this catchy game name in HoN, mostly they just use the word noob to attract beginners like you to join and bully you up. The ugly truth is most noob only room are advance to pro level players with some friends joining to help them beat the crap out of your team. But don’t lose hope, there are still legit Noob Only rooms out there, just be patient and observant regarding the enemy PSR’s.

Watch Out for Clans/All Friends Team – obviously this is a disadvantage to your team if you are playing alone with a team compose of strangers. Clans/Teams usually got a better strategies and you’ll end up losing the game and your PSR. Clans are too obvious to spot just by looking at the 3 letters abbreviation of their clan before their names. If there isn’t, wait and observe if they chat something like ‘i got a friend coming‘ stay away as much as possible.

Be Ready to Cancel the Game Before Starting – this is still related for friends team, before they click the Start Game they SWAP their friends to their team so be ready to cancel before the 5 seconds hit zero. It’s not playing cowardly IMO, it’s playing smart.

Never Select a Hero First – another easy way for you to be countered so easily. If possible select a hero that will counter at least 1 or 2 of your enemies.

Join an All Hero Pick – since you are new to this game, why risk of joining an All Random/Single Draft if you’re not so familiar with the heroes yet.

Check the Mini Map – this is pretty basic since DotA, watch it if some enemy are missing on the map. Let your allies know if you know where they are heading. Run if they heading your way!

Optional: Don’t Look at your Enemies Stats – in my opinion this will build fear to yourself since you are aware of his stats. Just look at the PSR and if it’s just around your current PSR then you’ll be fine. Believe in yourself.

Lastly, Have Fun and Don’t Expect to Always Win – even the advance/pro players of Heroes of Newerth also taste defeat. Go out there and have fun!

I hope this helps the beginners and noob for Heroes of Newerth and you find my strategy tips helpful. If I miss out something or you want to add more strategies for noobs please let me know, thanks!

hi guys, its not all about PSR!! its about KDR too. KDR is Kill-Death Ratio. its something about kills and deaths in a game or so.. u can check a players KDR by right clicking his name in a lobby or pressing F6 and typeing his name on the bar that comes out when u click “show stats” in the F6 menu.. AND FINALLY! nevereverever join a server called 2V1 and the names in red…there is a humble guy called… ND4SPD!!! hes kinda uber… 4.something KDR atm seriously… he will make u concede in 15 minutes.. aaaand.. umm.. i forgot >.< well thats all folks!

  • [...] There. I did science. The nature of the game, how close the teams have to be to ensure victory and what is at stake (HoN and LoL both have some form of persistant ranking, this means that internet fame is on the line, and everyone knows that is oh so important). For HoN, it’s PSR. Player Skill Rating. A coveted resource that decides how good you are. The higher the PSR, the ‘better’ you are at the game. (You start at 1500 PSR and the amount you lose is decided by the PSR’s of your team and of theirs, if they are decided higher than you, you gain more for the victory and lose more in defeat) You immediatly know what sort of game you’re playing when you have guides on the internet telling you how to get a better PSR, how to survive starting and how to get that digital ranking higher.
