HP Pavilion dm1z Notebook in Philippines

HP Pavilion dm1z Notebook in Philippines

I’ve been itching to buy another laptop but instead of another 14″ I decided to go for a little smaller 11.6″ netbook. The problem is a netbook is mostly slow right? What I had in mind is I hope manufacturers would build a netbook with the power of notebook. As I do a little googling which that time was Consumer Electronics Show 2011(CES), I saw the HP Pavilion dm1z Notebook which is powered by the all new AMD Fusion and I immediately said “Wow, this is what I’ve been looking for“.

Now I know that HP Pavilion dm1z is what I want to buy, the next problem is where can I buy it? I patiently waited for a month hoping that it will be available in the Philippines. I kept on checking the villman and tipidpc(tpc) sites and keep on searching for “dm1z philippines” or “hp dm1z manila” but I had no luck. Worst, I found out that it is only sold in US and no place else. I almost lose hope but a friend told me about Johnnyair service which they buy and ship your item/s from US to Philippines. After setting the RAM to 4gb, entering a $30 off coupon code and pay the 10% tax, I checked out the HP Pavilion dm1z Notebook from the HP store myself via US paypal. You cannot use paypal Philippines, it won’t allow you to check out since the country cannot be changed when checking out.

So after another almost a month of waiting again, it will arrive next week and I am excited to get my hands on it. Sony Vaio YB is available here but so far the reviews says dm1z’s overall package is far greater than Vaio YB. My friend told me I shouldn’t rely on HP products but hell I care at least it is my own decision and I’ll find it out myself.

guys not to be bias but this laptop is really good. small but fast, this is what i’ve been waiting for. with the affordable price, it really is a bang for the bucks. just an opinion though.

any current owners share your thoughts.

I am a tech expert. I can say that the HP DM1Z is better than sony YB. This because the HP is $100 dollar cheaper than YB thus the performance is better even they had the same specs. DM1Z has 1 hour longer battery life than YB. With the new AMD APU, it beats all intel atom processor including the integrated GPU. What’s new with this DM1Z is that with the very cheap price, you get both performance and graphics. it can even play “Call of Duty 4″ at 61 frames at low settings. This is the first netbook I have seen with low price and great performance. you never go wrong by buying this laptop.

I just ordered this laptop from Amazon and had it shipped thru Johnny Air. The edition being sold in the Philippines only has 2GB RAM and is limited to Windows 7 Basic. I could have settled for a 2GB RAM but the Windows 7 Basic is a deal-breaker for me, as it is not upgradable to higher versions. The Multi-touch and Full-Aero features are a must for me. All in all, I only had to add 2K. I’m excited, I can’t wait to put my hands on it :)

Henshin, any updates on your experience with this laptop?
