G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
Along with Transformers, another Hasbro toy was brought to the big screen and this time it is G.I. Joe. All I know about G.I. Joe is they are elite force to stop then evil plans of Cobra Commander. Unlike Transformers who deals with large robots, G.I. Joe depends heavily on advance weaponry and technology to both heroes and villains side.
I gave Transformers 2 a positive review despite of flaws and its mediocre story because of its amazing effects bringing these robots to the big screen. Can G.I. Joe attain what Transformers 2 achieved?
G.I. Joe started immediately with action/explosion and it was all that I expected from this movie. It reminds me as if Michael Bay also directed this movie. As it goes on it shows flashback from significant characters and events as the story unfolds. One thing I quickly noticed was the clichés but I didn’t mind it that much. Stephen Sommers also made a strong implication that he directed the successful The Mummy franchise by having 3 actors cameo on this film. The characters are fair; nothing annoying and I think they played their part well. In my opinion, Denise Quaid doesn’t fit to be General Hawk and I can’t explain why. Sienna Miller with a black colored hair really looks hot! The film tried to have a comic relief through Marlon Wayans’ character but I think he didn’t pull that much but still funny. The effects were also good with its highlights the Accelerator Suit chase and the take down of Eiffel Tower but of course there are also awkward part for effects. The finale action was like a Star Wars underwater version. Funny part I noticed in the ending was Cobra Commander wore a new mask and said “Call me Commander”. He was so frightening as if he is going do something big, NOT! He was arrested immediately. Based on how the movied ended, a sequel is sure yet to come and it was just confirmed to be on a go.
To sum it up, G.I. Joe is not Transformers and you got to like it as it is. It is still entertaining and a good action movie. Again to all the die hard fans, don’t be disappointed if the movie is far out from its origins. Just enjoy it for what it is.

the movie is full of cliches and bad jokes.
I almost fell asleep watching this. It’s a movie for kids. They should’ve casted a different Duke… or should’ve made this GI Joe movie more about Snake Eyes – that could’ve been more interesting! If it weren’t for Marlon Wayans, Snake eys, and the ermmm.. atractive female characters, I could’ve had snored through the whole movie!
Funny bit in the movie for me: The last part when Cobra Commander introduced himself as “The” Commander (with a villanous husky badass voice) and was arrested right after. Just freaking hilarious.
I was really excited when I had to wait in line for hr and half to see this film on opening night. And after I saw it I was really disappointed I waited an 1 and half hrs to watch this film. It almost reminded me a little of the first Batman Movie that came out. If you’ve seen the trailers you’ve seen the movie. I dont know what I expected but I expected a little more from them.
